Art Appreciation Workshop : Introduction to Tibetan Art & Thangka Painting
Exploring the Buddha Face, symbols, colour & traditional craftsmanship
Curious about Tibetan Art and the beautiful world of Thangka Painting?
This relaxed, hands-on workshop is an introduction to Tibetan art and Thangka traditions, exploring paintings, sculpture, symbols, motifs, colour and traditional craftsmanship. We’ll look at the stories and visual language behind these works, and discover how different elements come together to create this rich artistic tradition.
At the heart of the workshop is Exploring the Buddha Face—a closer look at its proportions, features and expression, followed by simple, guided drawing exercises. No previous art experience is needed; just bring your curiosity and a willingness to explore.
The workshop is rooted in art and cultural appreciation, rather than religious instruction or Buddhist spiritual training.
My own journey with this beautiful art has grown through years of travel, personal study, attending workshops, and learning from artists and practitioners across the Himalayan region. The more I learn, the more I discover how deep and profound this art is, and I continue to learn from it with each experience. I now share this journey through relaxed, hands-on workshops that invite curiosity, observation, and a deeper appreciation of the art.
